GENOVA LABS. HERD SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS.

GENOVA LABS. SCIENCE THAT CAN HELP YOU.

Genova Labs is dedicated to bringing proven science to autogenous vaccine production. There are times when commercial vaccines just don’t cut it in your intense animal production units. Custom vaccines have proven they have a significant role in today’s production medicine.

The first step is to find the right people. People with years of experience in commercial vaccine production. People ingrained in the proven procedures and manufacturing methods so custom vaccines are produced the ‘right way’.

WE ARE NOT A DIAGNOSTIC LAB.

That’s not our job. Our job is to find the best science, wherever it may be, and bring that proven science to you. This method has helped us:

  • Identify new strains of Mycoplasma bovis
  • Identify Moraxella bovoculi as a new Pinkeye pathogen.
  • Identify new strains of Histophilus somni.
  • Develop PCR profiles to differentiate Mannheimia haemolytica serotypes.

All within the scope of working closely with traditional diagnostic labs and university researchers. And Genova pays for any diagnostics used in developing your custom bovine vaccines.

HERD SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS

CUSTOM BOVINE VACCINES.

That’s right, we only sell custom bovine vaccine for backgrounders, feedlots, calf ranches, dairies and cow/calf operations. And we specialize in Mycoplasma, BRD, Pinkeye and Salmonella vaccines. In fact, we have a patent on our Mycoplasma bovis vaccine. All of our custom vaccines are manufactured for Genova Labs to our specifications.

AT GENOVA LABS:

  • Isolates are grown separately, and not ‘grouped’ by organism just for efficiency in production.
  • Growth rates are measured on each individual isolate.
  • Endotoxin levels are measured on all gram negatives.
  • Each isolate is formulated for specific antigen/dose.
  • Targets for total antigen/dose are met for each serial.
  • Production time after receipt of isolates is 4-5 weeks.

WHY USE GENOVA LABS AUTOGENOUS?

Genova believes there are three good reasons to use autogenous vaccines in your vaccination program.

First
If there is no commercial product available and other treatment methods fail to give effective results. The new Pinkeye species are a primary example of where custom vaccines are the best alternative.

Second
Is when commercial vaccines are available, but lack cross protection with the field strains of the organism. Evidence of this problem seems to be rising with Mycoplasma, Pasteurella, Pinkeye, Histophilus somni and Mannheimia haemolytica. Custom vaccines can be an effective alternative to increased antibiotic usage.

Third
You get a quality product that is exclusively yours. The isolates used are from your herds. Your name is on the label. You pick the label color to aid vaccine compliance.

Genova Labs is dedicated to working with you to document field performance, manage your diagnostic cases, keep your isolates up to date, and track vaccine inventory.

PINKEYE

Moraxella bovoculi has been isolated with increasing frequency in pinkeye cases. Once thought to only be a summer disease and caused by Moraxella bovis, diagnostic labs are now finding Moraxella bovoculi in a large number of pinkeye cases.

MYCOPLASMA BOVIS

Genova Labs has been an industry leader in understanding the complexities of Mycoplasma bovis.

SALMONELLA

Over 2,500 serotypes of Salmonella have been identified with a handful of serotypes causing disease in cattle.

HISTOPHILUS SOMNI

Histophilus somni can cause a myriad of problems in cattle including respitory, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, nervous system and reproductive disorders. H. somni, a gram-negative bacteria, may first be evident by sudden death of the animal as a result of pneumonia.

MANNHEIMIA

Genova Labs developed PCR profiling to differentiate Mannheimia haemolytica serotypes to help us select the significant antibiotic resistant strains that are contributing to BRD problems in your herd.
